Ali's Garden

My first and ONLY post about A.I.

I relate to the frustration with the constant discussion of A.I.

I PROMISED myself I wouldn't add to it, because there is nothing that hasn't been said. Even so, I really really really want to join this question challenge I found on Ava's blog (challenge by Rishabh).

How was your first experience with AI models?

Used it to mess around when it first went mainstream in like 2020. I lost interest in it not long after, especially after being made aware of privacy and plagiarism concerns.

Do you use AI or are you completely against using it?

Completely against GENERATIVE A.I. as long as:

Do you have any preference among different models, for example Claude vs ChatGPT? If yes, how do you choose?

I use neither so I feel like I can't answer this question.

What aspect of AI models do you like and what do you not like?

Since I already listed what I don't like, I'll mention one positive thing. Even though I don't find it to be a reliable search engine, it can aggregate information faster than I can, and I can see why people flock to it.

How do you feel about AI generated images? Does it annoy you if someone use them in a blog post?

I strongly dislike it and it definitely annoys me. It gives me the impression that the process of writing/art is not important to the blogger. I don't want to consume any writing or art that doesn't uphold trial and error. It's not only the most human part, but it's where our best ideas come from.

Also, I will always prefer a goofy little stick figure to a high definition A.I. image. The first reveals a lot of personality and quirk, and the second reveals what prompt someone typed in.

Internet is flooded with AI slop now, full of generated text, images, audio and videos. How do you filter it from authentic human creation? Do you have a strategy?

The easy way is to no longer consume media based on an algo's recommendations. The indie web tends to be mostly-human created content. Also, I find that a lot of creatives and left-leaning individuals don't like A.I. all that much. The content I already want to consume avoids it anyways.

Are you hopeful for a better future with A.I. or a dystopian one?

I HATE sounding douchey or like a know-it-all, but I would love for people to invest some time into watching interviews of these CEOs speaking about the models they create and the future they expect as a result. I think they'll have a very eye-opening answer for you. If not, then, welp.
